Projects to be inaugurated in Ilorin as Governor AbdulRazaq is turbaned as Sardauna of Ilorin
Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday to inaugurate two major projects as part of activities marking the turbaning of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin.
The projects are the Kwara Garment Factory and the 11-storey headquarters of the Kwara State Revenue Service, both described as key projects of the AbdulRazaq administration.
The garment factory is expected to create significant employment opportunities, with the state government projecting at least 4,000 jobs when the facility reaches full capacity.
The 11-storey Kwara Revenue Service building, meanwhile, was funded through savings reportedly achieved by reducing consultancy fees that would otherwise have been paid.
The two projects are among more than 30 capital projects being executed across different parts of Kwara State.
Their inauguration is expected to set the tone for a day of activities that will culminate in the turbaning of Governor AbdulRazaq at the forecourt of the Emir of Ilorin’s Palace.
A reception will follow at the Atlantic.
The ceremony is expected to attract several dignitaries, including state governors, ministers, heads of federal and state agencies, military and police chiefs, traditional title holders from Ilorin and political leaders.
The turbaning ceremony will also be broadcast live to enable residents and viewers outside Ilorin to follow the event.
Kwara TV, Radio Kwara, NTA, TVC and Channels TV are expected to provide live coverage of the ceremony.
The event is expected to combine the commissioning of major government projects with a major traditional ceremony celebrating Governor AbdulRazaq’s installation as the Sardauna of Ilorin.
