The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced three men to life imprisonment over their alleged involvement in the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire LGA of Oyo State.
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old driver who allegedly absconded with his employer's Hyundai saloon car after dropping her at a church service in Akure. The suspect was tracked to Abuja, where he was arrested, while the stolen vehicle was successfully recovered before he was charged to court.
Two suspected kidnappers were killed during a gun battle with operatives of the Ondo State Police Command at Ilu-Abo along the Akure–Owo Expressway. Police recovered weapons, mobile phones, ATM cards and other items, while efforts continue to apprehend fleeing gang members.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the alleged murder of former OGTV broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo. Police said the prime suspect confessed to orchestrating the attack to "teach her a lesson," alleging he recruited two others to carry out the crime.
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six suspected cultists during a special operation in Akungba and Iwaro-Akoko, recovering battle axes, a jackknife, charms, and other items linked to cult activities.
The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspicious death of 71-year-old church leader Omotayo Ezekiel Fajana, whose body was discovered in a hotel in Akungba-Akoko. Three suspects have been arrested.
