OSOGBO — The Osun State Governor and winner of the just-concluded governorship election, Ademola Adeleke, has pledged to embark on more development projects aimed at improving the lives of residents across the state.
Adeleke made the commitment shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of the 2026 Osun governorship election.
The incumbent governor polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes.
The result gave Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Folasayo Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
Speaking after his victory was formally declared, Adeleke thanked the people of Osun State for renewing their confidence in his administration.
He promised that his victory would usher in another phase of development across the state, with more projects and initiatives targeted at improving infrastructure and the general well-being of the people.
The governor also pledged to build on the achievements recorded during his first term and ensure that the renewed mandate translates into tangible benefits for residents.
Adeleke's victory followed a closely contested election in which he secured the highest number of votes across the state, defeating the APC candidate by more than 66,000 votes.
With the election now concluded and the mandate renewed, attention is expected to shift to the governor's next phase of governance and his plans to consolidate ongoing projects while initiating new development programmes across Osun State.
