An APC Youth Summit held in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State has called for greater party unity, youth empowerment and responsible participation in the political and socio-economic development of Nigeria.

The summit, which brought together APC leaders, youths, students, educators and other stakeholders, focused on party cohesion, education, entrepreneurship and constructive youth engagement.

Speaking at the event, the APC Youth Leader in Akoko North West and organiser of the summit, Busari Mustapha, appreciated party leaders, members and residents for their continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Mustapha stressed the importance of unity within the party, saying a strong and cohesive membership was necessary to sustain the APC's programmes, strengthen its grassroots structure and promote effective engagement among members.

He also urged young people to shun drug abuse, pursue education, acquire relevant skills and embrace entrepreneurship as pathways to self-reliance and economic independence.

The youth leader commended the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for what he described as his contributions to youth development and empowerment in Ondo State, particularly in Akoko North West, as well as his support for the Tinubu administration.

He said sustained investment in young people remained important to the future development of Akoko North West and Ondo State, urging youths to take advantage of available opportunities to develop their skills and contribute meaningfully to society.

The APC Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Obanla, represented by Hon. Bola Salami, commended Mustapha for organising the summit and urged party members and residents to sustain their support for the Tinubu administration.

Similarly, the member representing Akoko North West Constituency I in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Fatai Atere, who is seeking re-election, appreciated residents for their support for the APC-led government and called for continued support for the party.

Also speaking, the Director-General of BTO4PBAT, a political support group, Ogbeni Adojutelegan Adesuyi Gideon, said the APC remained committed to its development agenda and urged members to remain united and focused on the party's objectives.

Hon. Idowu Aiyegbusi also stressed the need for unity, noting that cohesion among party members was important to strengthening the party and preparing effectively for forthcoming elections.

A major highlight of the summit was an inter-school quiz competition involving students from Constituencies 1 and 2 in Akoko North West Local Government Area.

Students representing Constituency 1 emerged winners and received a cash prize of ₦100,000.

The organisers said the competition was aimed at promoting academic excellence, healthy competition and intellectual development among young people, while underscoring the importance of education in preparing youths for future leadership and economic opportunities.

The summit ended with calls for greater youth participation, education, entrepreneurship and constructive engagement as key elements in the development of Akoko North West, Ondo State and Nigeria.
