The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State has commenced the distribution of sensitive electoral materials for the forthcoming Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election.
The commission, through its Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Olayinka Ogunseye, called on political parties, security agencies, accredited observers, media organisations and other stakeholders to witness the exercise.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the sensitive materials are being distributed from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) premises in Alagbaka, Akure, where they are currently secured.
The materials were dispatched to the six local government areas participating in the bye-election.
Ogunseye said accredited media organisations have been invited to cover the distribution process as part of efforts to ensure transparency.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ondo State, hereby notifies all political parties, party representatives, security agencies, accredited observers and members of the public that the distribution of sensitive electoral materials to the six local government areas participating in the Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election has been scheduled,” the statement said.
Reaffirming the commission’s commitment to a credible electoral process, Ogunseye notes that INEC remains dedicated to conducting a free, fair, transparent and credible bye-election scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.
