Motorists, commercial drivers, tricycle operators and other road users have called for urgent government intervention over the deteriorating condition of the Oluwatuyi Roundabout on Ijoka Road, Akure, Ondo State.

Road users say the condition of the road, particularly around the roundabout, has made movement increasingly difficult and unsafe, with damaged portions and waterlogged sections becoming more challenging to navigate after rainfall.

A concerned road user, while drawing attention to the situation, appealed to the relevant authorities, saying, “Oluwatuyi Roundabout at Ijoka Road, Akure, Ondo State, needs your attention.”

The deteriorating condition has reportedly become a source of frustration for motorists and commuters who use the busy junction as part of their daily movement within the state capital.

For motorists, the situation goes beyond inconvenience, as damaged sections can force drivers to slow down, manoeuvre abruptly or struggle to find safe passage, potentially affecting traffic flow around the roundabout.

Commercial transport operators and other commuters are also affected, while the poor condition of the road could increase vehicle maintenance costs for motorists who regularly ply the route.

Residents and road users are therefore appealing to the Ondo State Government and relevant road-maintenance authorities to inspect the affected portions and take steps to rehabilitate the road.

They stressed that the strategic location of the Oluwatuyi Roundabout makes its condition a matter of concern, particularly for commuters who depend on the route for daily movement.

The road users are urging authorities to intervene promptly and prevent further deterioration of the road and worsening of the difficulties faced by motorists and commuters.
