The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has announced a new date for its highly anticipated Women in Security (WINSEC) Summit & Awards 2026, moving the event from Tuesday, June 30, 2026, to Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The decision followed a meeting of the WINSEC 2026 Central Planning Committee in Abuja, where members reviewed issues of national importance and agreed that rescheduling the event was in the best interest of all stakeholders.
In a statement jointly signed by NAWOJ National Chairperson, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim; National Secretary, Comrade Wasilah Ladan; and Project Coordinator of the WINSEC Summit & Awards 2026, Comrade Tita Onyebuchi Nze, the venue and every other arrangement for the event remain unchanged.
The association apologises for any inconvenience the change of date may cause to invited guests, award recipients, sponsors, partners, well-wishers and other stakeholders, while expressing appreciation for their understanding and continued support.
NAWOJ describes the WINSEC Summit & Awards as the first initiative of its kind in Nigeria, noting that the programme is designed to spotlight excellence, promote conversations around security, and recognise outstanding contributions in the sector.
The association assures participants that the event, now scheduled for Wednesday, August the 5th, 2026, will deliver a memorable experience and set a new benchmark for future editions.
NAWOJ reiterates its commitment to hosting a successful summit and awards ceremony and urged stakeholders to look forward to what it described as a landmark gathering that will leave a lasting impact.
