NAWOJ Sets Up Credentials Committee Ahead of 2026 Triennial Delegates Conference

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has constituted a nine-member Credentials Committee ahead of its 2026 Triennial National Delegates Conference scheduled to hold in November.

In a statement  signed by the National Secretary, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Wasilah  Ladan ,The decision was taken at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Association held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

The committee is expected to coordinate the necessary processes for the successful organisation and conduct of the conference.

Addressing members of the committee, NAWOJ National Chairperson, Aishatu Ibrahim, charged them to carry out their responsibilities with fairness, impartiality and professionalism.

She stressed the need for strict adherence to the Constitution of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and other relevant regulations guiding the Association.

According to her, due process and respect for established rules are essential to preserving the integrity, unity and credibility of NAWOJ.

The committee was formally inaugurated by the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi.

While inaugurating the committee, Abdullahi urged members to approach the assignment with integrity, patriotism and professionalism.

He charged them to ensure that the electoral process is free, fair, credible and transparent, with an outcome acceptable to all stakeholders.

The NUJ President also commended NAWOJ for its commitment to democratic principles and urged the committee to remain guided by the NUJ Constitution in carrying out its responsibilities.

The nine-member Credentials Committee is chaired by Comrade Rajab Mohammed.

Other members are Comrade Nsibiet John; Comrade Maureen Sheyin, representing Zone A; Comrade Abisola Ariwodola, Zone B; Comrade Stephanie Ude, Zone C; Comrade Grace Akwe Ogbayi, Zone D; Comrade Rashida Yusuf, Zone E; Comrade Grace Orumieyefa, Zone F; and Comrade Farida Abubakar.

The committee is tasked with coordinating the processes leading to the successful organisation and conduct of the 2026 NAWOJ Triennial National Delegates Conference.

The National Secretariat called on members and stakeholders of the Association to give the committee the necessary cooperation and support to enable it discharge its mandate effectively.
