The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, has resolved to name the largest hall at the NUJ Press Centre, Akure, after the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Wisdom Olawande.
The resolution was unanimously adopted during the union's monthly congress held in Akure as a mark of appreciation for the minister's contributions toward upgrading facilities at the NUJ Press Centre.
The congress also commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the Ondo State House of Assembly for the enactment of a law incorporating Owena Press, publishers of The Hope newspaper.
It urged the Commissioner for Information, Idowu Ajanaku, and the Head of Service, Segun Odusanya, to ensure immediate implementation of the new law to achieve its objectives.
The union further applauded the state government's ongoing flyover construction on Oba Adesida Road, Akure, while urging the contractor to deliver the project on schedule.
It also called on the government to eliminate indiscriminate parking along Arakale Road to ease traffic during the construction period and to fast-track ongoing road projects across the state.
The congress congratulated Senator Adedayo Faduyile on his victory in the Ondo South Senatorial bye-election and commended INEC and other stakeholders for conducting a peaceful poll.
