The National President of the Amalgamated Union of Motor Mechanics and Technicians of Nigeria (AUOMMATON), Engr. Dr. Oseni Suleiman, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Dr. Suleiman described the rescue as a major boost in Nigeria's fight against insecurity, saying it reflects the Federal Government's determination to protect the lives and property of citizens.
He noted that the safe return of the victims had brought relief to their families, the people of Oyo State and Nigerians, while strengthening public confidence in the country's security institutions.
According to him, the operation has shown that with strong leadership, effective intelligence and coordinated efforts among security agencies, criminal elements can be confronted and defeated.
The AUOMMATON President praised President Tinubu for what he described as his unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria's security architecture through sustained support for the military and other security agencies in the fight against terrorism, kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.
He also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his calm and responsible leadership throughout the incident, noting that his collaboration with the Federal Government and security agencies, as well as his concern for the affected families, demonstrated responsive governance.
Dr. Suleiman equally applauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and other security agencies involved in the operation. He described the successful rescue as a reflection of their professionalism, courage and dedication to duty.
He said the operation further proved that intelligence-driven policing, strategic coordination and continuous government support remain key to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of innocent Nigerians.
While calling on citizens to continue supporting security agencies with useful and timely information, he stressed that the fight against insecurity cannot be left to government alone but requires the cooperation of all Nigerians.
He also urged governments at all levels to sustain investment in surveillance technology, intelligence gathering, logistics and the welfare of security personnel to consolidate the gains recorded in the fight against crime.
Dr. Suleiman further advocated improved security around schools and other public institutions to safeguard children, teachers and communities across the country.
The AUOMMATON President expressed solidarity with the Chairman of AUOMMATON, Oyo State Council, Pastor Windoye Johnson Sunday, whose members and communities were directly affected by the incident. He commended the state leadership of the union for standing by the affected families throughout the difficult period.
Describing the rescue as a renewed source of hope for Nigerians, he said the success of the operation demonstrates what can be achieved through committed leadership, professionalism and national unity.
He prayed for lasting peace and security across the country, expressing confidence that Nigeria would continue to make significant progress in overcoming its security challenges through the collective efforts of government, security agencies and patriotic citizens.
