Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the imposition of a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas of the state as part of measures to address security concerns.
In a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the curfew takes effect from Wednesday, June the 24th, 2026.
The restriction, which runs daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., will remain in force for 48 hours in the first instance and affects local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park.
The affected local government areas are:
- Oriire (Ikoyi-Ile)
- Orelope (Igboho)
- Irepo (Kisi)
- Saki West (Saki)
- Saki East (Ago-Amodu)
- Atisbo (Tede/Ago-Are)
- Itesiwaju (Otu)
- Iseyin (Iseyin)
- Olorunsogo (Igbeti)
- Atiba (Offa-Meta, Oyo)
The state government said the measure is aimed at strengthening security and maintaining public order in the affected areas.
